#GekoFit: At-home HIIT Workout

As a diver, you want your resting heart rate to be as low as possible, especially if you are free diving, right? It all comes down to; the fitter and healthier you are, the better diving experience you will have – simple as that.

High intensity Interval Training consists of short, intense bursts of exercise with either active recovery or complete rest in between. Research shows that you can achieve more progress in a mere 15 minutes of interval training (done three times a week), than the person running on a treadmill for an hour. 2 weeks of consistent HIIT training improves your aerobic capacity as much as 6-8 weeks of endurance training. Not only do you burn more calories during a HIIT workout, but the effect of all that exertions kicks your body’s repair cycle into hyperdrive, which means that you continue to burn more calories in the 24 hours after your session. HIIT is great for weight-loss and increasing fitness levels!

Here is a quick at-home, no equipment needed HIIT workout to try.

Do 1 minute of each exercise, followed by 30 seconds of complete rest.
